About / Meagan Mason

I’ve spent two decades finding a better way to do the work. Now I do it with AI.

I’m Meagan Mason. Before AI, I spent years in manufacturing and engineering, taking apart how work actually gets done and rebuilding it to be faster, safer, and simpler. New Direction AI is that same instinct pointed at a new set of tools, for small businesses and organizations that want AI to actually save them time, not add to the pile.

The track record

My job was always to make the work better

For a big part of my career I was a tooling designer and project manager in aerospace. The work was exactly what it sounds like: take a process people were already doing, watch how the whole job ran from start to finish, and find the friction. Then I’d build the tools and procedures to fix it and redesign the entire work cell around an easier, safer way to do it.

None of that was guesswork. Every redesign was documented, and the results were tracked, the efficiencies gained and the hours saved, so we knew whether it actually worked. That’s the discipline lean manufacturing and Six Sigma drill into you: don’t just change things, prove they’re better.

That is the same thing I do now, with different tools. Look at how the work really happens, find where the time is leaking, and put a better system in its place, one you can see working.

The method, then and now

  1. Watch the real job

Start to finish, how the work actually runs, not how the org chart says it does.

  2. Find the friction

Where time leaks, where errors happen, what everyone dreads on Monday.

  3. Build the better way

Tools and procedures put in place around an easier, safer version of the job.

  4. Prove it worked

Documented, with the hours saved tracked. Don’t just change things, prove they’re better.

On a shop floor or a process in a small business, the sequence doesn’t change.

Not from the outside

I run a small business too

New Direction AI isn’t the only thing I run. I own and operate my own small business, so I’m not advising you from the outside. I know the reality of it: limited hours, wearing every hat, and having to figure out for myself which tools are actually worth it and which just eat an afternoon.

I put the exact same mindset to work there that I bring to yours, find the friction, fix it, keep what works. The AI calls I help you make are the same ones I’m making for my own business.

  • Then

    Manufacturing & aerospace

Tooling design, and redesigning how the work runs.

  • Next

    Digital & my own business

Full stack, SEO and ecommerce, and running my own.

  • Now

    AI applied

The same efficiency work, in my business and yours.

Why it matters to you

What that background means for your business

Most people arrive at AI from the technology side, excited about the tool. I arrive at it from the process side, asking a plainer question: what’s actually eating your time, and what’s the simplest thing that fixes it?

That’s a manufacturing habit, and it travels well. Whether it’s a repair cell or a small business drowning in admin, the method is the same: understand the real workflow, find the waste, build a system around it, and document it so it holds up after I’m gone.

It’s why the recommendations I make are specific and practical, not a pile of impressive tools you’ll never use.

The usual approach

  • Starts from the technology.
  • Leads with an impressive tool list.
  • Ends when the demo ends.
  • Measures excitement.

How I work

  • Starts from your workflow.
  • Recommends the simplest thing that fixes it.
  • Documents it so it holds after I’m gone.
  • Measures the hours you get back.
Teaching

I’ve also spent years teaching this kind of thing

For several years I developed and taught technical curriculum to adult learners, taking complicated technical material and making it usable for people who needed to actually apply it. That’s a big part of why the training and workshop side of this business exists. Explaining a system clearly, so a team can run it themselves, is its own skill, and it’s one I’ve been doing for a long time.

Where that shows up

AI Training & Workshops

Sessions built so your team leaves able to run the system themselves, not just impressed by a demo.

Straight answer

The honest part

AI for small business doesn’t have a settled playbook yet. Anyone who tells you they’ve got it all permanently figured out is selling you something, because the tools genuinely change month to month. What I can promise is that I stay current, I work with these tools every day, and I won’t recommend something I wouldn’t use myself.

I’d rather tell you plainly where things stand, including where a tool isn’t ready or isn’t worth it, than oversell you on hype. That honesty is easier to give when your background is in measuring whether something actually worked, not in selling the idea of it.

  • I stay current, because the field moves monthly
  • I use these tools every day myself
  • I’ll tell you when a tool isn’t worth it
